Student Outreach
Student Presentation Deadline: Student presentation submissions will remain open until the session is full or at least until Wednesday, April 30, whichever comes first.
All students at the undergraduate level and above are welcome to attend the AOAC INTERNATIONAL Midwest Section Meeting and experience an engaging meeting featuring expert-led scientific symposia, updates on the latest in food safety, challenges in detection and analytical methods, networking with professionals in the field, and more!

Tuesday afternoon will feature a student-focused content block that will open with a panel discussion featuring representatives from our sponsors and vendors, focusing on early career professionals. Get a chance to ask your questions about the industry and its career options to the people working in it. Following the panel will be time for student-led presentations: share your work with your peers and an audience ready to see how students are helping grow the field. Finally, we will have a student-focused networking event to allow you to dig in deeper with the panelists and other attendees that want to meet you.
Registration
We offer two student registration options, both discounted to help you attend. Attend the full meeting and have access to all the events on the schedule, with meals included, for only $200. Or for an even more budget-friendly option, our single-day student registration gets you access to all of our events on Tuesday, May 13 for only $100- that includes the student content block as well as morning technical sessions, three meals, and the evening happy hour and networking session. Registration is below and don’t forget to book your hotel room by April 21 to lock in a discount rate.
Presentations
Student presenters have two options to share their research and topical knowledge at the meeting. The Student Presentation Session will feature 15-20 minute presentations alongside other student attendees, which can be on any scientific subject with a preference given to food safety and adjacent topics. Students can also submit proposals for one of the main scientific sessions under our four technical segments and give a 20-30 minute presentation alongside professionals in the field. Submit your presentations by April 30 and you will be contacted by the appropriate programming chair.
The one-day student registration includes the student presentation session, but if you’re submitting for one of the other technical sessions be sure to confirm on the schedule that your registration covers that session’s day.
